Equipment
The High Voltage Laboratory has a 24.16 m x 16.26 m sized area with 386 m2 effective interior space and a height of 16.45 m. The craned hall is designed regarding the required flash-over and breakdown distances to ensure the safe operation of the highest voltage equipment in the laboratory. The most important equipment in application in the High Voltage Laboratory of the Group of High Voltage Technology and Equipment are transformers (up to 600 kV), impulse generators (up to 800 kV peak), high current transformers (5000 A up to 50 V), and training lines for practicing and educating various LLM methods. The Laboratory is equipped with further voltage sources, installations for electromagnetic compatibility measurements, different equipment for experiments with insulation technology, lightning protection, aging chambers, and measuring devices for presentations, measurements, and investigations.
Potential purposes of experimentation
Diagnostics of the insulation of high voltage equipment. Breakdown tests. Artificial aging tests of equipment and materials. Investigation of electrical power equipment failures. Testing the insulation system of electric vehicle applications. Testing of power line equipment, conductors, composite insulators, sensors etc.
