The Urban Heritage and Landscape Lab at BME consists of 5 researchers in the field of urban studies, architecture and geography at the department of Urban Planning and Design, having a strong background in research and projects dealing with culture, tourism and identity in European cities and regions. We deal with urban and regional identity, heritage and tourism development in strong cooperation with municipalities, cultural stakeholders, NGOs and local communities, having also a good experience in working with other disciplines such as sociology, economy and regional development, tourism studies and all fields in architecture and urban studies. Our approach is development oriented, delivering data and research background on urban and regional development scenarios, focusing on the sustainable usage, design and governance of heritage-related spaces and the communities benefiting from these. We analyze databases from social media user generated content, from statistical data and local surveys, and translate these into research results and development strategies usable and understandable for local and regional stakeholders. We are open to multi-disciplinary projects with a great experience in leading transnational programs focusing on local and regional tourism and heritage development!
