Railway Track Assessment Project Research Group
Achievements
- Onboard smartphones could provide a cost-effective method to complement the assessment of the structural performance and dynamic response of vehicle-track interaction with the ability to increase the number of measurements without disturbing rail traffic
- Improve maintenance intervention planning: this method with extensive and frequent measurements makes it possible to detect track irregularities in their early stage and their timely maintenance can increase the reliability of railway operation and minimize the long-term cost of the railway infrastructure
